Babylon Crusade Characters!
Main Cast:
Captain Matthew Gideon - Gary Cole
Captain Matthew Gideon, is weighted with a terrible
responsibility and trying not to show how it's
affecting him. He also carries a very strange secret
with him...
From jms: "Gary Cole as Matthew Gideon is a
thinking man's character; there's a lot going on behind the eyes,
and I know that when I write Gideon it will be in mental
close-ups. Lines that could have been delivered with
braggandocio or overweeninh confidence are brought down and
honed of intent, clarity or purpose."
Lt.
John Matheson - Daniel Dae Kim
The first office aboard the Excalibur who is also a
telepath...
From jms: "Daniel Dae Kim as Lieutenant John
Matherson brings an unexpected intensity to the
part, a seriousness and earnestness that is
simultaneouslt endearing and sobering: you know he would plant
his feet on the bridge and await your return, that you could go
away for two weeks, and he would still be there, just as you left
him, and woe to anyone who tried to move him off that spot."
Dureena
Nafeel - Carrie Dobro
Dureena Nafeel, to all intents and purposes the last
surviving member of her race, wiped out during the
Shadow War, and out for revenge against anyone
who served the Shadows; looking to settle scores,
and looking for any sign that others of her kind
escaped before the end...
From jms: "Carrie Dobro as Dureena is simply a kick in the head.
An intensity in the eyes, a smile and a threat behind the curled
lip, able to be that kind of vulnerable tough character who holds
forth from joy because she will no longer abide pain, and the
two are too closely linked for Dureena's comfort."
Max Eilerson - David Allan Brooks
Max Eilerson, a xenoarchaeologist attached to the
Excalibur by Interplanetary Expeditions "(which as a
multi-planetary corporation, certainly mourns the
situation in which Earth finds herself, but life goes
on, business goes on, and listen, while you're out
there on the edge of what's known, if you happen to
find anything we could turn to our own profit, you know what
to do)..."
From jms: "David Allen Brooks as Max Eilerson speaks with an
utter confidence that says he owns everything around him that is
not moving or on fire, even more so than was at first intended
in the dialogue as written. He brings a wonderful eccentricity to
the role, a sence of humour that prevents the character from
sliding into cliche. I know I can write this character as broadly
as I want, and the actor will take it hime and make it real."
Dr. Susan Chambers - Marjean Holden
Dr. Susan Chambers, science and medical officer,
assigned to evaluate the search for a cure to the
plague inflicted on Earth by the Drakh.
From jms: &qout;Marjean Holden's Dr. Susan
Chambers is the emotional heart of the show, the
voice of reason and morality with a sheer joy of living, able to
be our conscience without appearing in the least judgemental."
Galen - Peter Woodward
Galen, a lone techno-mage lately returned from their
hinding place after they fled known space during
the Shadow War, immensely powerful on the one
hand, and greatly flawed on the other, refusing to
live on the ship, instead going and coming at his
own whim, on his own errands, with his own
agenda, and always a darkness nipping at his heels...
From jms: "Peter Woodward's Galen, a techno-mage, is a thing
beauty to behold. Every word crisp, delivered laser like to its
intented target. I like to find characters where I can wind them
up to the point where they can let fly with pronouncements and
Jeremiands, meditations and prophecies of doom... and the
occasional one-liner just to keep you off your game. Galen is
now one such character, and I plan to have a great deal of fun
with him in the months to come."
Captain Elizabeth Lochley - Tracy Scoggins
Tracy Scoggins who played Captain Elizabeth Lochley
in Babylon 5, has signed up for 7 or 8 episodes.
From jms: "Tracy Scoggins as Captain Elizabeth
Lochley, already known to viewers, still the
commanding officrt of Babylon 5 in 2272,
independent, and successful on her own terms, whose own story
will be weaving in and out of the lives of the other characters,
especially Captain Gideon."
Security Chief Zack Allan - Jeff Conaway
Jeff Conaway (who plays Zack Allan in Babylon5)
told fans he has been signed for Crusade - 17
episodes of the first season, and 22 episodes of the
second.
Other Confirmed Cast Members
Maggie Egan as an ISN reporter, who she played in Babylon
5.
Other regular members of the Babylon 5 may appear in Crusade
as guest stars.
Information on some of the cast members from jms:
(Some of which has changed)
"Central characters would include one of the nine
surviving Zathras brothers, one of the family Zathras; the
command staff of one of the main explorer vessels The
Excalibur; a warrior caste Minbari; the lone survivor of a world
wiped out by the Shadow allies; a lone Technomage sent back to
see if the coast is clear for the others to come back; a
bioigeneticist and a representative from Interplanetary
Expeditions, whose goal may not be the same as the rest.
The series draws from the best of what B5 has developed
over its course, the things that the fans have indicated they`d
like to see developed: the Technomages, exploration, the political
situation back on Earth, more about the Minbari warrior caste,
and of course, more of the family Zathras."
